Meaning of terms

HIGH RESISTANCE (HR)

Varieties limit the growth and development of the specific pest or disease under normal pressure of the disease or pest, when compared to sensitive varieties. However, these varieties may show some symptoms or damage of the disease under strong pressure from the pest or disease.


INTERMEDIATE RESISTANCE (IR)

Varieties limit the growth and development of the specific pest or disease, but may show a greater number of symptoms compared to highly resistant varieties. Varieties with intermediate resistance will show, however, less symptoms or damage of the disease than the sensitive varieties, when grown under similar environmental conditions and / or pressure of the pest or disease.
